Deluxe Hydrafacial aftercare: what to do in the first 72 hours

Thornton, CO | Washington Street corridor near 104th Ave

If you do one thing after your Deluxe Hydrafacial, keep your skin calm and protected for the next 72 hours. That means no heavy sweating, no saunas or steam, no long hot showers, and no direct sun. I see the best glow when you keep it simple: gentle cleanse, light moisture, and broad-spectrum SPF.
A lot of first-time facial clients tell me they felt set at ease because I explain what I’m doing as we go, and then they’re shocked at the result, like it “took at least 5 years” off their face. Aftercare is what protects that kind of finish, especially here in Thornton where UV intensity runs strong at our elevation.
0 to 24 hours after your Deluxe Hydrafacial: keep heat, sweat, and makeup off
Right after a Deluxe Hydrafacial, your skin is freshly exfoliated and deeply hydrated. It tends to look smooth and glassy, and it can also be a little pink. Mild, brief redness is normal. What you do tonight decides if that calm glow stays calm.
My simple rule for tonight: If it makes your face hot, tingly, or flushed, skip it.
Do this
- If you can, go makeup-free the rest of the day. If you must wear makeup, keep it light and avoid heavy, full-coverage layers.
- Use a gentle cleanser and lukewarm water. Pat dry. Don’t scrub.
- Moisturize with a simple, fragrance-light moisturizer that feels soothing, not “active.”
- Wear broad-spectrum SPF in the morning, even if you’re “just driving.” The Washington Street corridor near 104th has you in and out of the car a lot, and that adds up.
Avoid this
- Hot yoga, intense workouts, and anything that causes heavy sweating.
- Saunas, steam rooms, and hot tubs.
- Long, hot showers that turn your bathroom into a sauna.
24 to 72 hours: the “no actives” window that keeps pores looking tighter
This is the stretch where people accidentally undo their own results. The most common issue is jumping back into strong products too soon because your skin looks so good that you want to “keep going.”
I’ve had clients tell me a week after their Hydrafacial that they couldn’t emphasize enough what a change it made in pore appearance, smoothness, and hydration, especially in our dry climate. Protect that by keeping your routine boring for a few days.
Hold for 48 to 72 hours: retinol, AHA/BHA exfoliants, peel pads, strong vitamin C serums, and any “tingly” products.
Also skip waxing and aggressive facial hair removal on treated areas. Don’t pick at any dry patches. If you’re a swimmer, give chlorinated pools a break for a few days. If you’re thinking hot tub, same answer: wait.
And please take SPF seriously. Thornton’s higher elevation means stronger UV. Even “quick outdoor time” can turn into lingering redness and a shorter-lasting glow if you don’t protect your skin.
A simple Hydrafacial skincare routine (gentle, hydrating, and realistic)
If you’re a busy commuter or parent in Thornton, Northglenn, or Westminster, you don’t need a 10-step routine to keep your results. You need consistency for a few days.
My go-to “first 72 hours” routine
- AM: gentle cleanser, lightweight moisturizer, broad-spectrum SPF.
- Midday: reapply SPF if you’re outside or driving around the Washington Street corridor near 104th.
- PM: gentle cleanse, moisturizer. That’s it.
If you’re on anti wrinkle skin care products, I’m not telling you to quit them forever. I’m saying give your skin 48 to 72 hours to settle before you restart the strong stuff. If you’re unsure, let me know what you use and I’ll help you time it out.
Planning around real life in Thornton: workouts, events, and quick stops off I-25
A Deluxe Hydrafacial has minimal downtime, but “minimal” isn’t the same as “no rules.” If you’ve got photos, a wedding, or an important meeting, I like you to have a 48 to 72 hour buffer. That gives any mild redness time to fade and keeps your skin from getting irritated by a last-minute workout or strong product.
If you’re squeezing this in between errands near 104th and Washington, keep your aftercare easy. Clean hands on your face only. Don’t rub or scratch. And keep a basic SPF in your bag so you’re covered when you hop out of the car.
Quick note if you found me while searching “med spa near me” or “lip fillers near me”: I do offer services like botox, dysport, Xeomin, dermal fillers, and even weight loss injection support. Hydrafacial aftercare is different from injectable aftercare, so always follow the plan we talk through for the specific service you had.
Redness, stinging, blotchiness: what’s normal, and when I want you to text or call
Most people have little to no downtime. A bit of pinkness right after is common, especially if you’re sensitive or you had a lot of congestion. That usually settles quickly. If you feel a little tight, moisturize and keep the water lukewarm.
If redness, stinging, or blotchiness is still hanging around past 48 hours, I want to know. Same if you accidentally used retinol, AHA/BHA, or a strong vitamin C and now your skin feels irritated. I’m easy to reach, and I’d rather you ask than guess.
“From the moment I walk in, I feel completely comfortable and cared for. She takes the time to listen, explain everything clearly…”
