I’ve had first-time facial clients tell me, “the result was amazing” and that it looked like “at least 5 years” came off their face, and the fastest way to protect that kind of glow is simple: keep your skin calm and protected for the first 24 to 72 hours. That means no heat, no heavy sweating, no strong actives, and no direct sun. Stick to gentle cleansing, hydrate, and wear SPF every day. Here in Thornton, our dry air and Colorado elevation make sunscreen and moisture even more important than people expect.
Your first hour and first 24 hours: protect the fresh skin you just revealed
Right after your Platinum Hydrafacial, your skin tends to look bright and feel extra clean. It can also be a little more reactive because you’ve just cleansed and exfoliated, then infused nourishing serums. For most people, the goal is to avoid anything that adds friction, heat, or irritation.
First hour basics: If you can, skip makeup. Don’t touch or pick at your skin. If you feel dry, a gentle hydrating mist is fine, but doing nothing is also a good plan.
Can I exercise after Hydrafacial?
I generally recommend holding off on heavy exercise for 24 hours. Sweat and heat can stir up redness and sensitivity, especially if you’re heading from the Washington Street corridor area to a gym right after work. If you absolutely have to move your body, keep it light and keep your face cool. No hot yoga, no sauna or steam room, and skip hot showers the first day.
Big “no’s” for the first 24 hours
- No retinol, AHA/BHA, scrubs, or exfoliating brushes.
- No pools, hot tubs, or chlorinated water.
- No sauna, steam room, or long hot showers.
- Avoid direct sun. If you’re in the car running errands around Thornton, wear SPF and reapply.
48 to 72 hours: keep the glow, then bring actives back slowly
This is the window where people usually notice the “why” behind Platinum. I’ve had clients come back a week later still talking about reduced-looking pores, smoother texture, and hydration that finally feels like it can keep up with our dry climate. Your job at home is to support that, not outsmart it.
What I want you doing at 48 hours
- Gentle cleanse morning and night. No aggressive rubbing.
- Hydrate with a simple hyaluronic acid serum (or another basic hydrator you already tolerate).
- Moisturize, even if you’re oily. Dry, tight skin usually makes oiliness worse.
- Wear broad-spectrum SPF 30+ every day, then reapply. Colorado sun is no joke at elevation, and wind dries you out fast.
Retinol and acids: I usually have you wait until at least the 72-hour mark to restart retinol, AHA, or BHA. And when you do, go slow. One night on, then a few nights off, based on how your skin feels.
The first week: the “easy routine” that makes results last
Most people don’t need a complicated post-care plan. They need a realistic one. If you’re juggling kids, commuting in from Northglenn or Westminster, or trying to squeeze in appointments around Denver traffic, this is the week to keep skincare boring and consistent.
What to keep doing
Stay gentle, stay hydrated, and stay on SPF. Your Platinum Hydrafacial sets the stage by cleansing and exfoliating, then feeding the skin with serums. You keep it going by protecting your barrier and preventing that “tight, flaky” feeling our climate loves to trigger.
What to avoid for the full week if you’re easily reactive
- Picking at congestion or “little flakes.” Let your skin shed on its own.
- Stacking multiple actives (retinol plus acids plus strong vitamin C) back-to-back.
- Skipping SPF because you’re “just driving.” Car time counts, especially in Thornton’s bright sun.

My go-to HydraFacial post care products (no fancy shopping required)
You don’t need a whole new shelf. You need a few categories that work together. If you already have products you love and tolerate well, keep them in rotation as long as they’re gentle for the first few days.
1) Gentle cleanser: No acids, no scrub beads, no “tingle.” Clean should feel comfortable.
2) Hydrating serum: Hyaluronic acid is a great option, especially in Colorado. Follow it with moisturizer so the hydration stays put.
3) Moisturizer: Think barrier support. If your skin is dry or mature, go a little richer at night.
4) HydraFacial sunscreen: Broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily, and reapply. Windshield time, school pickup, and outdoor errands all add up.
Side note: If you’re also building an anti wrinkle skin care plan long-term, I’m happy to talk through where retinol fits and how to use it without wrecking your barrier.
Redness past 72 hours, stinging, or “this feels off”: reach out and I’ll walk you through it
A little pinkness right after treatment can be normal. Mild tightness can happen too, especially in our dry air. What I don’t want you doing is guessing if something doesn’t feel right. If you have redness, irritation, or sensitivity that hangs on past 72 hours, message me and I’ll help you adjust your routine.
“From the moment I walk in, I feel completely comfortable and cared for. She takes the time to listen, explain everything clearly...”
